A List apart: multi column layouts that work the way we want them to

Multi-Column Layouts Climb Out of the Box:A List Apart: Articles: Multi-Column Layouts Climb Out of the Box This is a fantastic write up with examples of coding multi columned, elastic layouts that have the same height. Very nice, clean markup and some very good looking examples. This is a keeper in the post table based layout that we've mercifully arrived in.

D Stone Joins

Just letting you know that D Stone is here.

Online at the new Server!

Well the server move is (more or less) complete.
I've moved to a new CMS for fun, and the wordpress blog is mostly gone now. There is a semi functional version online at /tmp, but I don't expect to use it or work on it.

The gallery is moved over, most of the content from the old site is moved over, and I'm calling it good.
I still need to tweak a bunch of things, but obviously the doors are now open.

Coding in Notepad does not make you clever.

This is a great entry from Edd Mills’s Blog

Coding in Notepad does not make you clever.

It really took me back to my early early days doing web dev and thinking just like the guys he's describing. Today I can't imagine thinking I was smarter than anyone for using a less useful tool to do the same job.
Bravo to Edd for saying something that really really needs to be said.

When the atheist comes knocking

Fed up with the Mormons knocking on his door, John Safran heads out to knock on a few doors himself to spread the word of atheism.

Armed with a copy of the origin of species, watch as John spreads the word.

EFF fighting secret laws

EFF: Breaking News
EFF Asks Supreme Court to Tackle Secret Law

Americans Have the Right to See Laws They Must Follow

Washington, D.C. - The Electronic Frontier Foundation EFF and a coalition of non-profit organizations asked the U.S. Supreme Court Monday to hear a case challenging a secret law governing travelers in American airports.

The case centers on the Transportation Security Agency TSA requirement that travelers show identification before boarding commercial aircraft. So far, the TSA has refused to disclose the terms of the identification requirement to the public, claiming that they are "sensitive security information." In the amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to hear Gilmore v. Gonzales, EFF demonstrates that Congress never intended agencies to have unfettered discretion to impose requirements upon the public without allowing the public to review them.

Road Testing BMW’s Hydrogen 7

Via Wired:
Road Testing BMW's Hydrogen 7

Jules Verne, in his 1874 novel The Mysterious Island, described hydrogen as an "inexhaustible source of heat and light." A little over 130 years later, BMW is testing the theory with an innovative internal combustion engine that burns the lightest element much like gasoline, only cleaner.

Nice to see some progress. Clearly we're not there yet, but BMW seems to be taking some steps towards changing the way fire up our vehicles.

U.S. to launch Yo-Yo Ball probe

U.S. to launch Yo-Yo Ball probe

A quick follow up on the yo you ball thing. Looks like the NBC news story on the yo you balls managed to get a little heat and light on it.

A federal agency will take another look at Yo-Yo Water Balls, a popular toy blamed for injuring more than 400 children across the country, after a detailed report on the hazards of the toy in this week’s ConsumerMan column.
