How to fix Snow Leopard Mail 4.0 and cox SMTP smtp.west.cox.net server - The sender address was rejected by the server

This weekend I upgraded all the macs in my house with the handy dandy 5 pack of Snow Leopard.
Both my wife and son use morelweb.com domains with Mail.
After the upgrade no email could be sent.
Cox locks down sending email over standard ports via any mail server but the cox mail server.
All emails that we tried to send were rejected with the error message:
The sender address "xxx@xxx.com" was rejected by the server

I took a long time to figure out the very easy fix for this.
Edit the SMTP server list.
Find the entryfor smtp.west.cox.net
Click custom port

MLB Drops Silverlight for Flash

MLB Drops Silverlight for Flash - After two years of using Silverlight for its MLB.tv application, Major League Baseball is switching to Flash [Contentinople dot com]
You know, I think this is a bit of a shame. While I'm not blind to the fact that Flash is currently dominating the market, I am seeing a tremendous amount of really innovative stuff being done in Silverlight. More thoughts after the fold...

Crazy Sock Headphones, Only from Make...

So I'm browsing some tech news tonight, and I come across this engadget posting for a pair of home made sock headphones. It's actually a posting about this Make Blog Entry. Just another in the long line of cool things people are hacking together. I really like the nature of this one though, it's clever and funny.

Google Buses in their help, a big perk in the valley getting press

This Story on Cnet (which appears to come from the new york times) is an interesting write up about Google's new(ish) bus system for their workers. It's an interesting look into the depths that Google goes to separate themselves from the competition.

more inspiration from Smashing Mag

this is yet another super collection of sites, 45 this time, picked out by the folks over at smashing magazine.

The beauty of the lists of at smashing is they never claim to be the best of anything, and their not limited to big or small sites, they just talk about the subject matter. Really nice stuff listed here.

Missed this nice post at Smashing

One of my new favorite places to poke around is smashing magazine, a site dedicated to web development, mostly design. I remember reading the post : 50 Beautiful CSS-Based Web-Designs in 2006 | Smashing Magazine a while back and never linked to it.

Wal Mart shuts out Firefox

Jonathan Kemp has this follow up on the Tech Crunch posting about wal mart not properly supporting the firefox browser on its new video download site:Design by CSS » Wal-Mart Does Not Support FirefoxThe kicker is, they have now "updated" the site to not render improperly, no... not by fixing the simple CSS problems but instead by kicking out all non IE browsers.Yowza.
