Cox Communication of Phoenix Boldly Redefines "Available Now" to mean "Available In 12 Days"

So I'm not a huge TV guy or anything, but I like my Audio/Visual entertainment a fair amount. And I pay attention to things happening in the local market. So I've known that Cox was rolling out OnDemand in the Phoenix area for over a year. I even knew that Tempe (where I currently reside) was the slowest to get this technology that the rest of the country and most of the rest of the Phoenix market has had for a while now.

Crazy Sock Headphones, Only from Make...

So I'm browsing some tech news tonight, and I come across this engadget posting for a pair of home made sock headphones. It's actually a posting about this Make Blog Entry. Just another in the long line of cool things people are hacking together. I really like the nature of this one though, it's clever and funny.

Wal Mart shuts out Firefox

Jonathan Kemp has this follow up on the Tech Crunch posting about wal mart not properly supporting the firefox browser on its new video download site:Design by CSS » Wal-Mart Does Not Support FirefoxThe kicker is, they have now "updated" the site to not render improperly, no... not by fixing the simple CSS problems but instead by kicking out all non IE browsers.Yowza.

Coding in Notepad does not make you clever.

This is a great entry from Edd Mills’s Blog

Coding in Notepad does not make you clever.

It really took me back to my early early days doing web dev and thinking just like the guys he's describing. Today I can't imagine thinking I was smarter than anyone for using a less useful tool to do the same job.
Bravo to Edd for saying something that really really needs to be said.

"I wouldnt have thought anything about it if hed just said, Hey, use the crosswalk, and given us a warning the first time," says Selvage, a Springfield chef. "Then, the officer pulled his Segway up to the little building they use, then crossed the street the same place we did."

Exciting job offer

So my resume is on some of the job boards. I like what I do now, but I would also like to be just a bit more creative day to day so I have my eyes at least open... Anyway, that's not the point. The point is that the resume sites (this "hit" came from monster) are sometimes just absurd. I routinely get calls and emails from recruiters looking for me to relocate to awful places that I have in no way indicated I would be willing to relocate to. I'm asked about things I'm clearly not qualified or looking to do. We all know the drill, some key word hit in their search and boom, they're on the phone. But this one got me thinking...
