Experts say Civil War may be Brewing between Apple and AT&T

"When you try to put together two companies with very different operating styles, you open up a Pandora's box for executives to miscommunicate or disagree...AT&T have weaving together different businesses, systems and cultures. They don't have a reputation for investing in technology with the same zeal as Apple. This could be a mismatch.read more | digg story

Still Moving Hosts

I'm not happy with the way I've been treated by rootmode... They are not responding to support requests at all. I just hope I get all my content off of there before there is a problem.

Moving Hosts

This is the new host, morelweb is moving here soon...

Via Joplan.com psd to xhtml/CSS

Joplan.com | div_site post

Saw this quick tutorial on going from PSD to xhtml/css layouts in web design on Digg this afternoon. Not a bad write up if you're in the market for such information. I continued to be intrigued by the movement towards tableless design despite the somewhat complex nature of layouts done in pure css. It's really the acceptance of the separation of content from display that is driving this movement and that is a very good thing.

Coding in Notepad does not make you clever.

This is a great entry from Edd Mills’s Blog

Coding in Notepad does not make you clever.

It really took me back to my early early days doing web dev and thinking just like the guys he's describing. Today I can't imagine thinking I was smarter than anyone for using a less useful tool to do the same job.
Bravo to Edd for saying something that really really needs to be said.

The Ready, Fire, Aim Approach To Laptops In Schools

Techdirt: The Ready, Fire, Aim Approach To Laptops In Schools

Short discussion on the idea of putting laptops in many schools and the shortcomings.
Personally I used a laptop in college with great success. I took notes in classes, and had my papers with me so I could work on assignments anywhere. What I find most interesting with stories like this is not the actual story (which frankly seems obvious) but rather the comments left.

How Americans are living dangerously

How Americans are living dangerously

Via Time Magazine/CNN.com

We agonize over avian flu, which to date has killed precisely no one in the United States, but have to be cajoled into getting vaccinated for the common flu, which contributes to the deaths of 36,000 Americans each year.

We wring our hands over the mad cow pathogen that might be but almost certainly isnt in our hamburger and worry far less about the cholesterol that contributes to the heart disease that kills 700,000 of us annually.

The 10 Minute e-mail address

A disposable email service...A useful service I found while surfing digg this evening that allows you to receive emails at a given address (and respond or click the registration confirmation links!) in them for 10 minutes, then the address is gone.

Nice idea. I like bug me not (see my links) for most things, but I can see this being useful for forums and the like.read more | digg story
